Geeky Doomed Couples. Part 2. Remus Lupin and Tonks and Sirius. Stop Crying!

Welcome my Geekykins! How are you today? This is the second part of 'Doomed Geeky Couples' and in it we have a couple who were always destined for bad things!!

3. Remus Lupin and Tonks

Their last kiss. This one always gets me. I think I'm gonna cry. Damn Ms.Rowling. How could you? Okay it's nothing compared to GoT but still...How very dare you? Why do writers decide to kill off all their characters in the big finale? For dramatic effect? I guess if everyone survived it would look as though there success was never really in question. Still, there are plenty more characters less loved by fans she could have offed instead! The guy standing behind them in the second photo for example? Who even knows his name, well okay it's Kingsley Shacklebolt who would later become the Minister of Magic, but did he have a wife and child? No! Was he one of the best HP characters? No!! Boo. Hiss.

Well now that's over with, the following is taking from info on the Pottermore website. Rowling goes into great depth about Lupin from his birth to his death. What I love most is learning about how his relationship with Tonks developed:

Rowling explains Remus’ first impressions of Tonks:
Remus, so often melancholy and lonely, was first amused, then impressed, then seriously smitten by the young witch. He had never fallen in love before. If it had happened in peacetime, Remus would have simply taken himself off to a new place and a new job, so that he did not have to endure the pain of watching Tonks fall in love with a handsome, young wizard in the Auror office, which was what he expected to happen. However, this was war; they were both needed in the Order of the Phoenix, and nobody knew what the next day would bring. Remus felt justified in remaining exactly where he was, keeping his feelings to himself but secretly rejoicing every time somebody paired him with Tonks on some overnight mission.
Remus had never been in love before, and Tonks had a huge effect on him:
It had never occurred to Remus that Tonks could return his feelings because he had become so used to considering himself unclean and unworthy. One night when they lay in hiding outside a known Death Eater’s house, after a year of increasingly warm friendship, Tonks made an idle remark about one of their fellow Order members (‘He’s still handsome, isn’t he, even after Azkaban?’). Before he could stop himself, Remus had replied bitterly that he supposed she had fallen for his old friend (‘He always got the women.’). At this, Tonks became suddenly angry. ‘You’d know perfectly well who I’ve fallen for, if you weren’t too busy feeling sorry for yourself to notice.’

I also found the following quote from Rowling which goes some way to making me not hate her for killing him off:

'I made myself cry all over again while writing this entry because I hated killing him.'

So at least she felt as bad as we do about it. Now I'm gonig to crawl into a little ball and cry for a bit, before getting up and eating everything in the house.

By the way I had no idea that there was a whole Remus/Sirius fanfiction going on. But on learning this I think I might have to do a wee bit of googling.

Okay folks. I did the googling and my mind will never be the same again.I knew people 'shipped' combos (I for one was always shipping Bella and Carlisle, I know TWILIGHT!) but really Snapione, Remione, Sirione? Wow! These people obviously have nothing better to do with their time. Maybe I should write a post on the world's weirdest FanFic couple combinations?

By the way. I actually could see the Remus/Sirius combo, I mean what goes on in the Hogwarts Fifth Floor Prefect's Bathroom stays in the Hogwarts Fifth Floor Prefect's Bathroom, am I right boys?!

I'll finish with one of the more disturbing yet slightly erm, interesting images, I found on my travels:

Notice the fluffy 'cuffs? Interesting. Very, very interesting.

See y'all later. Geekykins.
